Company Profile
Hall Damara first became involved with fat-tail meat sheep in 1997 with the purchase of several pure bred Damara ewes. The performance and characteristics of these were so impressive that we decided to visit South Africa early in 1998 to evaluate the different meat sheep breeds.
Our investigations convinced us that the Damara could provide exciting opportunities for Australian farmers from the wheatbelt, pastoral and arid areas. We first implanted embryos imported from South African leading Damara Studs Clynton Collett, Frank Blumenthal, Du Toit, Steen Kamp, Wilde in 1998. Hall Damara saw the potential for Damara sheep to return profitability to farming operations across Australia. We are firmly committed to expanding our own operation and developing the industry.
With 14 years experience in successful embryo transfers, we have the expertise and infrastructure to provide a wide range of products and associated services. The veterinarians retained by Hall Damara are amongst the most experienced in the world in large volume embryo transfers. As the largest Australian importer of Damara genetics, we are fortunate to be able to offer some of the best genetics available in the world.
In keeping with our ongoing policy of striving towards breeding superior quality animals, new bloodlines are continually being introduced to our flock.
Hall Damara is located at Narembeen, 280 km east of Perth in Western Austarlia. Our parent company Hall Farms Pty Ltd has family origins and a lifetime of respected dealing across WA.
Since its inception in 1939, the company has grown to a highly successful cereal and sheep farming operation. In 1989, we began embryo transfer programs to improve our Merino flock and became a stud breeder. Hall Damara currently has a commercial flock of 30,000 Damara crosses and is expanding. As an extension of the farming activities, we started salt land reclamation work on our properties. This developed into a successful salinity control and drainage business serving several wheatbelt communities.
